I am just really upset today because my 1099-SA form from my insurance hasn't came yet. It has been 10 days and I am getting really worried. Since identity theft crimes are rampant these days, I decided to sign up for identity protection from LifeLock. I hope nobody steals my personal information. I really don't want it to happen. Who does?
Last year, I was notified by a Sprint rep stating about a fraudulent activity in my account. Somebody from Atlanta GA went online, somehow cracked my password and got into my account. He or she tried to open or add a new line under my name. The good thing was that Sprint was fast enough to notify me and waited for my confirmation. I never use my Sprint online account. That was probably a red flag right there to them. I immediately changed my PIN on the phone hoping it wouldn't happen again.
Later, maybe 2-3 months after the first activity, this hacker attacked again. I am not sure if it was the same person but the second hacker was also from Atlanta. This time, he or she ordered two new cellphones under my account. I was so mad, I called Sprint and asked them what happened. To tell the story short, I asked them to freeze my account so nobody (even myself) could order merchandise, change or manipulate my account information online. I probably won't sign up for a new contract with Sprint. It will be due next year.
Hopefully the letter from my insurance will show up in the mail tomorrow. If not, a dragon might have to call them and blow the fire of madness.
